So this has not been the prettiest winter season, bummer, but it still has its beauties. All of these following pictures, excepting the Hawk picture, were taken at the local (for me) Illini State Park. There is an abundance of birds, animals, and nature there and I can always find something I like to photograph. Here are a few highlights.
The Hawk, he was located at the entrance to Starved Rock State Park, where I work. Normally I do not get along very well with Hawks, they seem to hate having their picture taken, if you only knew how many times I have pulled over to get the shot and the second my camera focuses on them, there they fly away, ggrrrr so irritating! But this time I did something different, I pulled over about a block away, got my camera ready, drove up pulled over, and WHAM got 2 whole pictures in before he got wiser and flew away, I was VERY satisfied,
This one below is my favorite, I love prairies, and trees, and evening lighting. I don't care what anyone says, that combination is magical!
A White Breasted Nuthatcher, this little bugger was so hard to get a picture of, he/she flits and jumps so fast it made me dizzy, but I like this one, at least he/she is actually in the picture and it is not just a picture of the bark lol
